SHIPPING INFO

For shipping a single car, the easiest and most popular method is known as RORO (Roll On Roll Off the ship). The car is driven onto the ship, and then driven off at the destination port.Ocean freight for this kind of shipping is calculated by multiplying the vehicles M3 (cubic measurements) by a US dollar freight amount.

 INFO

The M3 is calculated by multiplying the length by height by width.
Here is an example based on a Hybrid Honda Fit (Chassis ID GP1).
Length = 3.90 meters
Width = 1.69 meters
Height = 1.52 meters

Therefore, the M3 for this car is 390 x 169 x 152 = 10.018

The current M3 rate of shipping to Kenya is US$65, so to calculate the ocean freight for the Hybrid Honda Fit, we multiply that rate by the M3: $65 x 10.018 = $651.

Here is a list of current M3 prices to popular ports, and some container freight charges.

Container shipping.
For sending multiple cars it is often cheaper to send them in a container.
In addition, RORO shipping is not available to some ports, so container shipping is the only option.
There are three general sizes available for container shipping.
20 foot containers, 40 foot containers, and 40 foot High Cube containers.
A 20ft container can take up to 2 cars depending on their dimensions, and a 40 foot container can take 4 medium sized cars, and up to 5 or 6 small sized cars.

There are some extra charges involved for container shipping as there are fees for securing the cars inside the containers but the money saved on freight usually outweighs such extra expenses.
Please consult us if you are considering container shipping as each case will be different..
